Brick Notes

Bricks are what we call gateways. We tend to use Beaglebone Blacks flashed with Debian. Here's a useful link to get Debian running on the beaglebone http://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_Debian.

Eduroam WIFI setup

Many places will only have access to wifi for the gateway device. For CMU the cert-file can be found at https://support.comodo.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/GetAttachment/945/59.
Configure wpa_supplicant with the following. The /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf file should look similar to the following.

ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
ctrl_interface_group=0
eapol_version=2
ap_scan=1
fast_reauth=1
network={
        ssid="CMU-SECURE"
        scan_ssid=1
        key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
        eap=PEAP TTLS TLS
        pairwise=CCMP TKIP
        identity="User ID"
        password="User Password"
        ca_cert="ca-cert.pem"
        phase1="peapver=0"
        phase2="auth=MSCHAPV2"
}

Begin the wpa_supplicant daemon with the following command. Depending on your WIFI usb dongle chose a driver other than nl80211.

wpa_supplicant -i wlan0 -D wext -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf  -D nl80211 -B
ifconfig wlan0 up
dhclient wlan0
